*puts on 3D Glasses* WOAH! 3 dimensions!! I can see you in three dimensions...*moves back and forth...*

Of course, I could see you in 3D without these glasses *throws glasses into spontaneous fire*

3D is a craze sweeping the whole world. What is it? Well, when I say 3D, what do you think of? You probably think of the classic big, square framed paper glasses with the red/cyan color filters. Maybe those pictures with the psychedelic blue and red lines? The movies with the same lines that you can watch just about anywhere? Or do you think of the actual definition? Of course you should know 3D stands for "3-Dimensions," "3-Dimensional," or "3rd dimension." But what IS a dimension?

Dimensions can be defined as any direction in which space(the universe, and matter within) exists, or extends. As humans, we know that the universe has 3 dimensions.

FIRST DIMENSION

What is the first dimension? Well assuming that a one dimensional creature(a creature that can only move in one dimension) would want it's eyes to face where it's going(always nice to be able to see where you're going, eh?), I am presenting the 1st dimension as constituted by forward and backward. Forward can be considered the positive, and backward the negative constituents of this 1st dimension - LENGTH.

Humans, albeit subconsciously, tend to see the 1st dimension of length as a bit primitive. Why's that? Well, partially because it's the 1st of 3 dimensions. 1 seems a bit insignificant compared with 2 and 3. Also, many primitive things are "length-heavy," or long. Most animals are mostly length-heavy. Most metallic objects and machines(Trucks, planes, trains, beds...which doesn't belong kids? xP) are length-heavy as well. These creatures and mechanisms sometimes have a level of consciousness, but none reach the level of intelligence found in humans, or are capable of love and emotion the same way we are. Finally, of all dimensions, Humans are naturally smallest in the 1st.

Keeping with the terms of  "heaviness," humans are least heavy in the length dimension. They're not very long, is what that means. I am about a foot long, as are many humans. Humans can increase their length by eating a lot, because we store fat in our stomach area. But, increasing your length by more than a few inches isn't healthy for humans...so please don't use that excuse. In some years I don't want to see on the news some dude who got fat for, quote, "An experimental increase of his person into the 1st dimension..."...I will lose faith in the human race for the rest of eternity.

MOVING ON.

Although humans may view it as somewhat primitive, and you're not highly conscious of your EXISTENCE on the 1st dimension because you exist in such a small amount on it, it is in fact the dimension in which we operate the most, and most efficiently. We walk forward(the positive constituent of length), where our eyes face, and back up if there's an obstacle. Operating mostly on the 1st dimension doesn't mean we are 1 dimensional creatures(Although that is debatable...). I obviously exist in three dimensions. By operating, I simply mean moving around within. Keep that in mind for later.

SECOND DIMENSION

What is the second dimension then? Well, the second dimension, if the first were to be length, would be composed of right and left, right being the positive, left the negative of this dimension of WIDTH.

Humans have about twice as much "width-heaviness" as they do length-heaviness. That means we're wider than we are long. I, being about a foot long, am about 2 feet wide. From shoulder to shoulder I measure approximately 2 feet. Humans operate well in the 2nd dimension, but not as often as the 1st. We mostly turn right or left, and the after turning resume our forward or backward movement. We're rarely seen walking left or right deliberately(or solemnly for that matter xD). Crabs and sidewinder snakes move "sideways" through the 2nd dimension to get around.

A human can effectively become wider, or "width-heavier," by raising their arms. When I raise my arms level with my shoulders, I increase my width to approximately 5 feet 9 inches(5'9"). From fingertip to fingertip, that's about how wide I am. You can also increase your width by eating more, but please...just...don't even go there.

When I raise my arms to fully extend in the 2nd dimension, I become approximately as "heavy" in the second dimension, as I am in the third...how do I know that? I'll be writing my guide to the third dimension next, please join me then to find the answer to this and more questions!
