Reil-Teil

(A remake of a creature I made when I was a little kid.)

The Reil-Teil is a long, sleek predator with four jaws, two limbs, and a long, sharp tipped tail. The thin hairs on it's head sense tiny vibrations in the air that lead it to it's prey. It then has two main attack strategies - the first is to lash out its long tail and stab its prey, which usually is very quick. The second is to shoot its head, like a snake, and grab the prey between the pointed sideways jaws, then holding it against the ground, letting it go and quickly snapping it up in the main jaws.

The second method is largely used by females with young. The prey is caught between the first jaws but held slightly loose as not to kill it. It is carried alive back to the nesting site, where it is held or dropped in front of the young so that they can learn how to kill by themselves.

The large shell is rather leathery, only hardening out on the ends that jut out. Males often use these points in sparring.
